Senior User Experience Designer, Plaxo

Changes are afoot at Plaxo, and we're focusing more than ever on what we're really good at - being a great address book. We're looking for a thoughtful and experienced designer who loves informing product strategy, creating information architectures, designing page frameworks and interaction patterns and doesn't mind getting tactical with usability testing and iterative prototyping.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate current experiences (both offline and online) and make informed recommendations for improvement.
  • Reconcile potentially disparate experiences and recommend ways to create a design system
  • Create wireframes that illustrate what is on the page and how they are laid out
  • Plan and execute very tactical RITE tests
  • Quickly create and iterate prototypes based on testing outcomes
  • Refine wireframes to visual mockups using an existing visual framework and components
  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to work through issues and drive products to completion.


Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in User Interface, Information Architecture, Interaction or User Experience Design or related field
  • Expertise with Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks and InDesign
  • Clear, organized writing, documentation, communication, and presentation skills
  • Experience in iterative prototyping (paper or digital)
  • Logical, analytical detail-oriented thinking
  • PIM domain knowledge is a plus
  • Passion for design and ability to effectively share your point of view and expertise with project team members and clients
  • Familiarity and ability to design within an Agile software development process
  • Bachelors or Masters degree required (Design or HCI preferred)

  • 5+ years C/C++
  • MySQL strong database background
  • Understand Scalability- solving scalable problems

  • Web 2.0/consumer facing site development experience preferred

Plaxo is looking for a Sr. Unix Systems Administrator to join a talented, tight-knit team responsible for expanding our existing network to support Plaxo's rapidly growing customer base. Comcast Silicon Valley Innovation Center is a division of Comcast Cable. The group supports several product lines including: Plaxo.com, a “truly smart, socially-aware, and pervasive” address book, Tunerfish.com, a social discovery engine for TV, movies and online video, and Xfinity Connect. While our division is intimately involved in projects across Comcast, there is a strong entrepreneurial culture embedded in everything we do. We are located in Sunnyvale, CA with over 70 full-time employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining Linux based systems and VMs, including a variety of tasks around systems automation, configuration management, troubleshooting and maintaining high security standards within the network environment.
  • The ideal candidate should be detail oriented, a team player, and respond well to pressured situations.
  • This position does require local travel between Plaxo locations—personal transportation is required.


Qualifications:
  • Expertise in UNIX/Linux systems.
  • Strong TCP/IP Networking experience.
  • Strong scripting experience (Perl/Ruby/Python/Bash).
  • Email system configuration and operation (Qmail, Postfix).
  • MySQL installation and configuration is desired.

We’re looking for a Director of Sales in a newly established role for Plaxo which has recently refocused on building the market-leading “truly smart, socially-aware, and pervasive” address book.

You would own Plaxo’s sales strategies including: targeting, positioning, negotiation, and pricing. In this role you would establish for the first time a B2B sales channel that acquired premium subscribers in volume (vs. current B2C “retail” model).

The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a startup-like environment and will bring a self-starting, energetic, and creative approach to this individual contributor role. Your background should demonstrate proven success in creating new sales channels and in meeting business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and cultivate a new B2B channel of providing Plaxo’s premium subscription to businesses and organizations thru a volume sales and affiliate program.
  • Determine which industries/roles we should focus our sales efforts on and then research the structure and qualities of them to improve company’s success.
  • Execute all aspects of the sales funnel from leads to prospects to paying customers. Hit first year sales target of $1M in subscription sales.
  • Collaborate with head of marketing on how we position Plaxo’s value proposition to organizations and businesses in the targeted industries.
  • May include sales engagement at industry tradeshows as determined.
  • Identify possible business development relationships with a few key companies, which could deliver meaningful step-functions in terms of new users or paid subscribers.
  • Coordinate with Account Management personal who will handle post-sales support.


Qualifications:
  • BS in Business or related relevant discipline or equivalent work experience; MBA preferred.
  • 7 + years experience in sales and/or business development ideally in the consumer-oriented web services space. Recent experience as an individual contributor is preferred.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (in person, by phone, and via email).

We’re looking for a seasoned User Experience Designer to lead up the vision and execution of the Xfinity communication suite. Most people think of a product like this as simply email, voicemail and calendar, but we don't want to stop there. We know that it could (and should) be so much better! That's where you come in. We're not satisfied with just maintaining the status quo– we want you to think big! You will be tasked with not only driving superb user experience, but also ideating and concepting future ideas. You must also be able (and excited!) to inspire and work in collaboration with product leaders to create the strategic vision for our products.

Responsibilities:

  • Working directly with the General Manager to help form, visualize and execute a larger vision.
  • Working with other parts of the Comcast organization to figure out the right ways to integrate into the larger Xfinity experience.
  • Suggest, plan, specify, and oversee research from external Design Research vendors.
  • Synthesize research findings and recommendations into a cohesive product roadmap.
