March 21, 2006 (MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.) — Plaxo®, Inc., creator of the Universal Address Book that keeps millions of members in touch with their friends, colleagues, and information, today announced that it has surpassed the 10-million-member mark. Member activity also has increased as people incorporate Plaxo into their daily lives, accessing it from work, home and on the road and utilizing features such as the integrated calendar and eCards service.
Plaxo registered its first million subscribers in May 2003 — a milestone achieved just seven months after launching version 1.0 of its service—and hit the five-million-member milestone in January 2005. The company’s already brisk member growth was further amplified in November 2005 with the release of America Online’s AIM Triton client that features a Plaxo-enabled address book. The company has also seen brisk revenue growth from subscriptions to its Premium Services.
“Our team has worked hard to deliver on our vision of a reliable and trusted universal personal contact management service,” said Ben Golub, president and CEO, Plaxo, Inc. “We will continue to push forward on our vision, introducing Plaxo to additional platforms, clients and various devices so that people can connect and stay connected to the people and information that matter to them.”
Today, Plaxo supports full integration with Mac OS X, America Online, Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. In addition, Plaxo members can build their Universal Address Book by importing contacts from their Netscape, Palm, Yahoo! Mail, and Hotmail accounts. As Plaxo becomes increasingly popular, people often find that their friends and colleagues are already members, creating a network of people whose contact information is always up-to-date through the seamless address book updating that occurs between linked members.
