The API makes it easy to integrate address book functionality into any application or web site, allowing developers to programmatically synchronize address book information between their application and the Plaxo network. This API supports synchronizing address book data through a REST binding.
Why should I use the Plaxo API?
- Let your users have a consistent address book across applications
- Changes made in one application's address book are synced with others to create a single, more complete address book
- Have users access their universal up-to-date address book from your application
- Tap into the Plaxo network and its millions of members
How do I get started?
- Read the API docs
- Create a test account
- Start coding and syncing!
- Let us know what you've created!

Developing on our test server
To aid in your development without affecting live data, we have created a separate but fully functional test environment at testapi.plaxo.com. This test server uses a separate database and is completely disconnected from our production environment. We recommend developing and testing your application against testapi before releasing it for use on production data.
To get started, create a test account on testapi.plaxo.com.
Notes about using testapi:
- We often release and test updates to our API on testapi. To check the current API version, you can always go to http://testapi.plaxo.com/rest?
- We will announce scheduled downtime on this site, however please be warned that this development server may not always be available.

We use the REST binding ourselves! The following source code is open for you to explore:
Common API Examples
Here's a bunch of examples of basic API calls to see the REST API in action.

The Thunderbird toolbar allows you to synchronize your existing Thunderbird address book to your Plaxo address book. Download it, unzip it (by changing the .xpi and .jar extension to .zip), and examine the JavaScript files with your favorite editor. Learn more. |
Commercial Use
The Plaxo API is free for non-commercial release and is covered by the Plaxo Address Book Access Terms and Conditions. Commercial use requires a separate agreement with Plaxo. If you are interested in commercial use, please contact us at
