Blake Ilstrup

Blake A. Ilstrup is an associate in Cooley Godward Kronish's Business department and a member of the Emerging Companies practice group. He joined the firm in 2008 and is resident in the Seattle office. Mr. Ilstrup's practice focuses on venture capital and bank financings, corporate partnerships, commercial agreements, intellectual property licensing, public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. He has worked with a wide variety of clients in the software, wireless, web services, digital media and life sciences industries. Mr. Ilstrup has been listed for a number of years in the Washington Law & Politics survey as a "Rising Star" among lawyers in the State of Washington, and is named in the Best Lawyers in America honorarium. Mr. Ilstrup has worked with a variety of technology companies, venture capital firms and investment banks, including Crosstrees Medical, Deutsche Bank, CyVolt Energy Systems, Dexterra, Fatfoogoo, IceBreaker, Ikaria, IronPort Systems (acquired by Cisco; Nasdaq: CSCO), Kineta, MedManage Systems, Nintex, OVP Venture Partners, Qpass (acquired by Amdocs; NYSE: DOX), Redpoint Ventures, SeaPoint Ventures, SourceLabs, Targeted Growth, TIBCO Software (Nasdaq: TIBX), U.S. Venture Partners, Wavelink Corporation, Zumobi, Zipwhip and Zonar Systems. Prior to joining Cooley, Mr. Ilstrup was a member of Heller Ehrman's Venture Law Group. He has also served as Vice President and General Counsel of Qpass, a Seattle-based software company, ushering Qpass through its sale to Amdocs (NYSE: DOX). Prior to his legal career, Mr. Ilstrup served in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard the guided missile cruiser USS ARKANSAS (CGN 41), during which period he made two deployments to the Persian Gulf. Mr. Ilstrup earned his J.D. from the University of California - Hastings College of the Law, where he was Senior Articles Editor for the Hastings Law Journal and won the American Jurisprudence Award in Negotiation. He received his A.B. in International Relations from Stanford University. Mr. Ilstrup is admitted to practice in Washington and California and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, the State Bar of California, and the King County Bar Association. He is also a member of Leadership Tomorrow, a Seattle organization dedicated to developing effective community leaders, and has served on the Board of Trustees for the Seattle Children's Theatre.
