Sleurink HansHans Sleurink is chief editor of Media Update, a news service specialising in converging technologies and technology assessment. From 1968 till 1986 he was scenarist and tv director with Dutch public broadcasting organisations Wereldomroep, NOS and VPRO. In 1984 the Dutch press rewarded him with a special prize for the screenplay of 'De Katvanger', a tv play he wrote for VPRO. From the Nipkow Commission he received a honourful mention for the same production. Alongside his screenplays he published several books. He has been active in multimedia since 1987, first as a project developer for Wolters Kluwer’s 'Fiscafax', one of the leading electronic news services in the eigthies in The Netherlands. From 1990 till 1995 he was chief editor of trade magazines Infocom and Multimedia Magazine. He is co-author of several textbooks for the multimedia industry. In 1994 he put together 'Multimedia Begrippengids' in the Dutch language; the reference work was published by Bohn Stafleu Van Loghum, a Wolters Kluwer subsidiary. The English rights were sold to Academic Press in 1995, which published the 'The Multimedia Dictionary'. Beside his work as chief editor of Media Update he is active as analyst for Staatscourant, the official gazette of The Netherlands. Together with philosopher and journalist Arjen van den Berg he studied developments in media education for the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, published as 'Media-educatie' in 2000. In 2001 followed by a study for the three northern provinces Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe about the information society at a regional level. Most recently they wrote an essay about media developments for the Netherlands Scientific Council for Government Policy, which was published in June 2004. |
