Steven L. Warren is a native Oklahoman. He has several national and regional writing, producing and directing credits achieved during his years of work in television broadcasting, national cable television, advertising and on the Internet. Warren has worked as a writer-producer for national cable television networks in the areas of program production and on-air promotion. He has written and produced literally thousands of television and radio commercials for clients. He worked in the news and creative services departments of several television stations in Tulsa, OK. While at KOTV, the CBS affiliate, he produced the traveling promotional weather show, "The Wild Wild Weather Show" which still performs in communities throughout northeastern Oklahoma. He also served as the news department's first full-time web producer and frequently appeared on-air from the newsroom, reporting about the latest advances in Internet technology and new features on the KOTV website. Warren has also worked as a Creative Services and News web producer for KREM-TV in Spokane, Washington. In addition to writing online news content, he wrote and produced commercials and programs for station projects. His program for The Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Northwest won a SPARC award from the Spokane Public Relations Council for finally putting a face on local children who needed mentoring in their lives. An avid Civil War historian, Warren wrote and produced the award winning Civil War 90 minute documentary "Last Raid at Cabin Creek." (http://tinyurl.com/2dxb7wp) His research for the documentary and his book "Brilliant Victory: The Second Civil War Battle of Cabin Creek, Indian Territory" took him to archives in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas and Missouri. He located and brought to light new eyewitness information about the second battle of Cabin Creek, which had not been seen in more than 90 years. The documentary is now a part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. Warren is a contributing writer to the Civil War Preservation Trust's book Civil War Sites: The Official Guide to Battlefields, Monuments and More , to the Oklahoma Historical Society for their book The Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture and to the Arkansas History Encyclopedia Online Project. In addition, he has written articles for national Civil War publications, including the Civil War News and North South Trader's Civil War magazine. He also served as script consultant for the award winning WVEC-TV documentary on the opening of the U.S.S. Monitor Center at the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, Virginia. He is a member of the Civil War Preservation Trust and the Friends of Cabin Creek Battlefield. Steve received his M.A. degree in Journalism & Mass Communication from the University of Oklahoma. He also holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Tulsa. Warren worked as a news writer-producer for "The 700 Club," for more than two years. The program is broadcast across the country every weekday and also wrote for CBNNews.com, the web site of the Christian Broadcasting Network News for 5 1/2 years. He and his wife Amy have two daughters.
