Sylvia GaffneyPresident, Gaffney Corporate Strategies, Inc Sylvia Gaffney, Ph.D. is president of Gaffney Corporate Strategies, Inc providing custom-designed consulting services in organizational effectiveness and change management nationally and internationally. Sylvia’s corporate outplacement company and career counseling services helps groups and individuals as they process through career transition. Sylvia owned and operated a successful staffing company providing temp services and full-time placements, and a computer training school for 18 years. She has been actively leading her OD consulting company for the past 15 years. She has created and facilitated sessions in career transition, strategic planning, team building, leadership development, intergenerational challenges, cultural change issues, resilience, retention, recruitment, job compatibility, succession planning, and employee morale. She has developed and implemented programs for testing and training initiatives, coaching and mentoring, internal career development, employee orientation, and exit interviews. She is currently developing web-based training on Talent Management initiatives. Sylvia created a handbook for the Associated Press Managing Editors (APME) called Talking With Your Town, and has traveled around the country conducting credibility conversations with newspapers and their readers. She was one of the original Fellows in the Workforce Stability Institute as a thought-leader in retention and employee growth. She has developed a Role Criticality Process and Workbook designed for Retention and Succession Planning. Sylvia is a charter member of the Association of Career Professionals International (ACP), and has her Fellow in the Outplacement Institute. She has authored a career development book titled Careerpreneur. She is a member of the Global Resiliency Network, has facilitated workshops, designed programs and a workbook geared toward Creating the Habit of Resilience. Sylvia has a PhD in Organizational Behavior and Systems. Her doctoral dissertation was focused on cross-generational connections and challenges in the workplace. Her master's degree was in Organization Development and her thesis was focused on workplace retention. |
