John HamiltonWidowed male, 63 years of age. I am a mid-Westerner who lived in Texas for 35 years and adapted to that culture. I now live in Louisville, Kentucky, where I am becoming acquainted with the Bluegrass Culture, which can be distinguished from the Corn and Soybean culture of my childhood. I am employed in Parks and Recreation by the Louisville Metro Government. I am occupied by the many experiences that we offer to Parks visitors, from sports, to safe walking trails, to historic sites, to cultural experiences in our outdoor amphitheaters and indoor community centers. My personal interests are the European culture of visual arts, dance, theater and music, also the Asian and African arts. I travel as much as schedule allows, both domestically and abroad. I read primarily history, philosophy and cultural analysis. I listen to Classical music (broadly defined) and attend many live performances of the arts I enjoy. Trips abroad always include substantial time in museums and artisan markets. I own a Ph.D.in Psychology, and that is owing to youthful indulgence, rather than occupational focus. I have taught at the college and graduate school level, but I am happy to abandon those positions to those who love to teach. I am a government administrator and I spend more than the required hours examining reports, procedures, policies and other communications that are required to keep government functioning and within the limits of its authority. I am involved with many environmental issues that impact the parks and my concern extends beyond my employment. I am responsible for my father-in-law, who now lives in a sheltered senior residence. I am committed to his care and spend a portion of my free time helping him enjoy the opportunities of Louisville. |
