Velia La Garda is a five-time Emmy Award winning television producer. For more than ten years she produced the magazine show called Vista L.A. for the local Los Angeles ABC station. Under her direction, Vista L.A. also won five Imagen Awards recognizing positive portrayals of Latinos in the entertainment industry. She has worked on multiple documentary series such as TNT’s Century of Women and KCET’s Los Angeles History Project. She was also involved in the research and development phase of Chicano! History of the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement series. She has more than twenty five years of experience in radio/television news working for general market and Spanish-language television stations throughout California. She holds a Master of Science from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of California, San Diego.
