William Peterson

Faculty, University of Tennessee

I am focusing on my passion - reducing waste in business processes. The evolution of Continuous Improvement has focused on mostly manufacturing processes. This has produced greatly improved production efficiencies for most processes where Continuous Improvement was applied. I believe many process improvement programs are stalled by focusing on the front line value added processes and not trying to eliminate waste in the overhead. I have developed a one week course Lean Applied to Business Processes that I teach at the University of Tennessee's Center for Executive Education. I also teach a two week course for the Air Force in the largest continuous improvement transformation effort in the world. I facilitate lean process improvement events, consult for businesses, and mentor lean students for certification. I continuously research process improvement, apply research, and revise course materials. I would be happy to discuss lean, answer questions, or hear about your lean experiences. Specialties: Lean in Avaition MRO settings, lean in business processes - including MRO, purchasing, invoicing, sales and marketing, engineering, human resources, planning, IT support...
