Roberta Kalafut

A distinguished medical professional, Dr. Roberta Kalafut brings extensive experience in the field of spinal care to her current position as Co-Founder and Physician Partner of SpineAbilene, a fully integrated spine-focused medical practice based in Abilene, Texas. SpineAbilene provides patients with a multi-disciplinary approach to spinal care, bringing together diagnosticians, spine physiatrists, spine therapists, and a consulting spine surgeon. Dr. Roberta Kalafut formed SpineAbilene with her husband, Dr. Edward Brandecker, in 1998. Prior to beginning her medical career, Dr. Roberta Kalafut attended Youngstown State University, earning her B.S. in Chemistry and Psychology. After graduating from Youngstown State, Dr. Roberta Kalafut enrolled in the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After finishing medical school, Dr. Roberta Kalafut began her post-graduate training at the Interinstitutional Residency Program of Johns Hopkins Hospital and Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Roberta Kalafut was picked to be the Chief Resident of the program in her final year as a resident. Professionally, Dr. Roberta Kalafut maintains affiliations with a number of prominent medical organizations, including the American Medical Association (AMA), the Texas Medical Association (TMA), the Taylor-Jones-Haskell County Medical Society, the International Society for Injection of the Spine, and the Texas Pain Society. Dr. Roberta Kalafut has also been board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
