Created 72 mutants of Rhodopsin in two years time and Dr. Khorana said that it would remain as a record and still it is. These mutants were designed to address various mind provoking questions about structure and function of Rhodopsin, post translational modifications, trafficking, folding and visual signaling. Discovered first time in the world that the mutant Rhodopsin is bound by heat shock proteins which in turn activate protein degradation pathways leading to retina degenerative diseases. Served as faculties at 3 out of 4 teaching affiliate hospitals of Harvard Medical University, viz., Brigham & Women’s Hospital (autoimmune diseases, immune suppression transplantation), Children’s Hospital (virology, stem cells, molecular mechanism of heart muscle thickening), Dana Farber Cancer Institute (Design of immune regulators for treatment of cancers, vaccine development, monoclonal antibody development for treating deadly cancer types). Cloned a novel immune suppressive gene CD160 and have two patents on it. This gene plays important role in regulating viral infection and immune suppression. As a faculty of Harvard Medical School the world number one University, cloned 6200 genes of the deadly bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa in 6 weeks time. This is the first time in the world that all the genes of the entire genome of a bacterium have been cloned using robots and pioneered expression of those genes and purification of proteins and screening of the Cystic Fibrosis patients’ blood sera by protein micro array, all using robots and thus lead the creation of Robotic High Throughput Technologies (RHT) for the first time in the world. Created educational institutes (school/college) and provided fee-free education that include free-stay and free-food. An expert in multiple biotech areas like design and creation of synthetic genes and synthetic organisms, complete genome level gene cloning and expression and purification of proteins, protein micro arrays (not the easy to create oligo, gene or antibody arrays that many biotech companies are selling) and screening directly the patients’ & healthy human sera of different ethnic/geopolitical human groups and thus identification and development of universal (that protect all people on earth not the Americans or Europeans only), non-live viral/bacterial vaccines. Worked with several advanced robotic and high throughput platforms and have given vital ideas/solutions that made a few companies to survive and grow big.
