Org. of Black Designers

The Organization of Black Designers is the first national organization to champion, advocate and promote the work of African American designers in all of the major design professions: Interior, Fashion, Architecture, Graphic, Industrial design. OBD creates and produces the first national conferences for Black designers -- DesigNation. The DesigNation conference brings together designers from every corner of the globe to share and participate in presentations from top designers in their field, OBD is also responsible for the first ever group exhibition of Black designers work in Washington, DC --"Design Force 2000" showcasing the work of designers for the 21st Century. OBD is a founding sponsor of the African American Design Archive at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum which is part of the Smithsonian. The African American Design Archive, is the first national archive that collects and preserves the work of Black designers from all design disciplines. OBD has developed international relationships in Europe, China, South America, and Africa. OBData is the weekly newsletter produced by OBD. It includes news articles on Fashion, Graphic, Interior, Architectural, and Industrial design. Especially those featuring Black designers.
