Graduated from Westfield High School, Westfield, New Jersey 1963 and the University of Delaware in 2/68 with Business Admin degree. Member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and played football and lacrosse. Worked in Baltimore for six months for Procter & Gamble, Packaged Soap and Detergent Division - sales trainee. Then because of my UofD Army ROTC, reported to Ft. Lee, VA for Basic Officer Course/Quartermaster Corps. Selected and served 2 years as 1st Lt., Aide-de-Camp to Major General John Hay, Commanding General of the Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, KS. 1970 joined Polaroid and in 1972 recruited into the paper distribution business with Nationwide Papers, Champion International. Promoted to Sales Mgr. Dallas in 1973 then GM in Milwaukee,WI in 1976. Joined Unisource Paper/Alco Standard 1978 as V.P. GM in Milwaukee. In 1984 was promoted with Alco to VP/GM Unisource Phoenix and Tucson to consolidate four companies with operations in Tucson and Phoenix. In 1995 was recruited as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Desert Mountain Properties (partnership between Mobil Oil/Lyle Anderson Companies) until 2000. Property picked in 2000 by "The Robb Report" as the world's #1 private planned golf community - six Jack Nicklaus Signature courses in North Scottsdale, AZ. Mobil had to sell nonrelated businesses as they got ready to merge with Exxon, therefore, I had to get a real job. Joined a senior management consulting firm, MAP (Management Action Programs) which was started in 1960. They have 8 offices around the west. Unisource was a MAP client going back to 1984. From my Desert Mtn days, I am also a real estate broker and work with a partner at John Hall and Associates. Our web site is www.aerierelocation.com. Married in 1969 to Nancy Messersmith who was a year ahead of me at Westfield High, Westfield, NJ. She graduated from Penn State in 1966, B.S. English. We knew each other in high school but not well. Ran into each other in Cincinnati while both with P&G. I am not certain how she has put up with me for 41 years. Nancy retired after 11 years of teaching elementary school in the Scottsdale Schools. She served as a volunteer CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for dependent children of the Arizona Courts. She currently is an active docent for the Phoenix Art Museum. We have three children, Janey 38, Mike 34 and Danny 33. They are all UofA Wildcats. Janey and her husband are also members of Arizona CC and have two boys 5 and 8. Mike lives on the west side of Phoenix. Dan and his wife Laura have a nine year old and live in Denver. I play golf and squash to stay fit.
