Kai Grassie

Group Senior Vice President and General Manager of the division „New Business“ at Giesecke & Devrient GmbH. Since January 1st, 2006 Dr. Kai Grassie heads the division “New Business”. Grassie joined G&D after 16 years with the Dutch Royal Philips Electronics group. He started his career at Philips in 1989 within the group`s corporate research division. After several managerial positions in the product divisions Lighting and Components, Grassie moved to Philips Semiconductors in 2002, initially as VP Technology & Innovation of the Business Unit Identification. From 2003 until he joined Giesecke & Devrient, Grassie was CEO of Philips Semiconductors Dresden AG. Grassie studied physics at the University of Dortmund and earned his doctorate in theoretical physics in 1985. Until 1989 Grassie worked at the Max-Planck Institute for Plasmaphysics in Garching, Munich.
