Developed and created "Viewpoint," a news magazine formatted show that mixes both hard-hitting investigative stories (a few that are influencing public policy direction) with lighter, human-interest features focused on issues of concern to the 55+ TV audience. Highlights include [see Discovery Communications, Inc. positions below]: 2004 Director / Co-Producer -- "Baseball: The Ripen Way" a 3-part DVD skills development and training series aimed at youth baseball players; worked with Cal & Billy Ripken and dozens of youth baseball players at the Ripken Baseball/Iron Birds facility in Aberdeen, MD over the span of three weeks in the fall of 2004; elaborate 3-camera shoot with crane/jib; production values of DVD program are of highest caliber in sports training market, including split screen analysis of MLB footage vs. youth baseball players. 2003 - 2004 Writer-Producer -- "TechKnowledge" a 13-part documentary series for The Science Channel (Discovery Networks); responsibilities included story concept development, writing, producing, directing, and editing segments, devising graphics and animation sequences, managing all host on-camera location shoots, supervising budget and deliverables schedule. 2001 - 2002 Executive Producer, Director & Co-Writer "Life Aboard," a one-hour pilot for 3-part documentary series hosted by Walter Cronkite; secured independent investment for pilot development; distribution, co-production partners and/or commission deals sought but never secured. 2002 Writer-Producer-Director-Editor "The Big Demolition," an independently produced, family-oriented documentary home video program focused on the world of building demolition. 1996 - 2005 Field Producer Extra, Access Hollywood, ESPN, Fox Sports, and others on Mid-Atlantic regional stories -- program segments were often broadcast the same day; many stories were pressing issues or "hot topic" stories often leading broadcast. 1997 - 1998 Producer-Director-Editor & Co-Writer "Operation In Orbit: Hubble Telescope's Space Doctors," a one-hour television documentary about the daring and complex Hubble repair mission STS-82; the program has aired in territories throughout the world and has been sold as home video product since 1998. 1998 - 1999 America's Voice Television Network, Washington, D.C. Lead Producer "Take Action America" Developed concepts, supervised scripting and creation of all visual elements and packages by staff of four Segment Producers for daily primetime flagship program of the network; supervised six Field Reporters; administered booking of guests; Line-Produced live, two-hour nightly national broadcast of program; produced and edited program elements and special presentations for the show; auditioned and hired new host of program, Peter Barnes (formerly of CNBC); coordinated redesign of the entire network's graphic look, promos, teases, etc.; and developed and produced specials for network. 1992 - 2000 Discovery Communications, Inc., Bethesda, MD (now located in Silver Spring, MD) 1996 - 2000 (long-term consulting contract through VUP, Inc.) Supervising Producer "Discovery Now Annual Presentation" Devised operational budgets, directed creative execution, and managed logistics for all video production for DCI's elaborate, multi-media and live-action event for four consecutive years; supervised segment producers and technical crews during the production of up to 20 video segments in locations throughout the world, produced concurrently over a three month span from conception to final presentation; also supervised and coordinated all post-production activities, devised the thematic and graphic design of each year's presentation, and directed the on-site production of the annual live events. 1999 - 2000 (long-term consulting contract through VUP, Inc.)
