Bob Meyers

The greatest (non-vocal) solo Guitarist

Bob was born in Baltimore, Md. in 1945 and started playing the guitar professionally at the age of 17. He toured with different bands in the Midwest (stationed out of Denver) with a light rock band in his early years, and in 1978 began playing solo guitar in addition to combo work. He worked in Vail, Colorado and Texas for a number of years. In 1996 he moved to the Northern Virginia / Washington D.C. area. He still performs at several establishments with many bands, and as a soloist. He has appeared with his band and vocalist Donna Salter at several “concert series” festivals in the area and at the internationally acclaimed Jazz and Supper Club “Blues Alley”. He has played for the Vienna Arts Society “Annual Treasury of Arts Show” as the featured soloist musician for the last 6 years running. His current band is “The Bob Meyers Trio” He has featured, at different times, vocalists Donna Salter, Juleen Stacy, and Barbara Fakuory . His band has had a steady monthly engagement for the last 10 years at the Ice House Café, located in Herndon,Va. Bob has also played there with other jazz bands, such as The Easy Smith Band, and The Woody Hume Quart of Jazz. He is still there frequently with vocalist, Terry Dearmore. In 2005 he released his first solo guitar CD album - produced by Jim Houck Productions and distributed by Tower Records. He later had a taped interview introducing the CD at Comcast TV in Arlington. He also plays once a month with Dave DiPaolo's band, Special Delivery, at the Fort Belvoir Officer’s Club. He is currently available for combo and solo work in the area for such special occasions as weddings, other banquet functions, cocktail and private parties, wine-tasting festivals, and concerts. His solo repertoire has over 1000 songs, including folk, light rock, latin, jazz standards, and broadway musicals. He also private tutors advanced students and guitar teachers - using his own music theory course (as applied to guitar), which he developed over 25 years ago.
