GARY LOONEYI started with JSO as a Correctional Officer in January 1974. I became a Police Officer in December 1976 and worked the downtown beats for 5 years. I was promoted to Sergeant in 1981 and worked in Patrol, Investigations, and the Police Information Office. I was promoted to Lieutenant in 1988 and worked in Patrol, Services, and Administrative Divisions. I was also a part time instructor at the police academy and served on the Hostage Negotiation & Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Teams. I served as President of the Fraternal Order of Police; and as Trustee for the Police and Fire Pension Fund. I was recertified as a Police Officer with the State of Florida in December 2003. After 23 years of service, I retired and worked in financial services for 11 years as a Retirement Planning Specialist/Financial Advisor. I currently serve as Chief of Security for the Moosehaven Retirement Community of Orange Park, Florida. I have a BA in Criminal Justice and a MA in Education from UNF. |
