I started out in embedded software, writing 4 bit assembler (how low can you get) for a personal radiation dosimeter, and have more recently been developing software for railway signalling, after spending a number of years in radio and telecom, wireline and wireless communication technologies, using OO design tools and C++ . But there is something really nice about seeing a nice hand-crafted well written piece of code. This is when you know that you have had a really good day.
