Lisa Kathleen RyanAssistant Professor, UMDNJ I am an Assistant Professor in Medicine at the Public Health Research Institute in Newark, New Jersey. It is part of the New Jersey Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). Most of my experience is research and mentoring graduate students in biomedical sciences, specializing in immunology and toxicology in the lungs. I have broad training in the medical sciences as well and am very knowledgeable about cancer, asthma and occupational medicine. I also teach immunology lectures to M.S. and Ph.D. students. I have had several research grants from the National Institutes of Health as principal investigator and co-investigator to study the immune response to influenza virus and Herpes Simplex virus-1 (the cold sore virus). I also freelance as a medical writer and grant reviewer.
