Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, John W Siebert MDPC

Researcher and clinician Dr. John Siebert has led studies on microsurgery and wound healing at New York University since 1990. Dr. John Siebert’s research has been published by Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, the American Journal of Pathology, Perspectives in Plastic Surgery, and several other peer-reviewed, scholarly journals. Dr. John Siebert has received numerous research grants for his work. In 1990, Dr. John Siebert received an award of $150,000 from the J. M. Foundation to study microsurgical correction of facial contour deformities: hemodynamics of microvascular anastomoses: prefabrication of microvascular free flaps. That same year, Dr. John Siebert received a research grant from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, to study the contractile function of fibroblasts in breast implant capsules. Dr. John Siebert has also received grants from the Ronald McDonald Association, the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the John A. Hartford Foundation. A co-author on 59 published scholarly articles, Dr. John Siebert was most recently involved in a study of wound repair in pigs using calreticulin. Other recent articles include, “Microsurgical Correction of Facial Contour Deformities in Patients with Craniofacial Malformations: A 15-Year Experience,” published by Plastic Reconstructive Surgery; and “Marriage of Hard and Soft Tissues of the Face Revisited: When Distraction Meets Microsurgery,” published in the Annals of Plastic Surgery. Additionally, Dr. John Siebert authored 18 book chapters and served as the primary editor for Plastic Surgery, Volume 4. Topics of Dr. John Siebert’s include hand infections in intravenous drug abusers and immunocompromised patients, correcting hemifacial atrophy using microvascular free tissue transfer, and techniques in scarless wound healing. Outside of his research work, Dr. John Siebert is an Attending Surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital; the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital; the Manhattan Veterans Administration Hospital; and the New York Ear and Eye Infirmary. Previously, Dr. John Siebert served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at Bellevue Hospital in New York. Dr. John Siebert graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine in 1981.
