Curt Austin PetersArchitect, Peters Architecture Austin’s passion for architecture lies in the capturing and reshaping of transitory images into recognizable and tangible forms. He believes in fostering a firm foundation for inspiration to surface, which lies in the rigorous study of site, personal needs, and historical precedents. Most important, he believes that the closer the translation between exploration and explanation is achieved, the more of an intimate experience becomes available. Austin’s commitment to the environment focuses on integrating green building practices and fostering a culture of awareness. Interest in architecture was shaped at an early age during family road trips across the Southwest United States where Austin observed firsthand the absolute mastery of connection between natural and man-made environments achieved by indigenous peoples, including Anasazi cliff dwellings, and Navajo adobe apartments. It was the rebuilding of motorcycles during his teens that fulfilled his curiosity of interdependent systems, and the maintenance of his family home that fostered an understanding of the local practice of building. These helped propel Austin into the formal study of art, science, and eventually architecture.
