Why pick pot, aka cannabis, as a blog subject? For starters, it’s a fascinating plant with a unique history, and its widespread cultivation has literally changed the landscape of California. Last year, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said debate about marijuana legalization was due, and Assemblyman Tom Ammiano has introduced a bill to legalize and tax marijuana sales, much like we do for alcohol and tobacco. Coupled with Proposition 19, the November ballot initiative that would legalize small-scale cannabis possession and cultivation for adults, it’s never been a more important time to talk about marijuana and the people who use it.
