Miriam Jang

Medical Doctor

Before beginning her career in medicine, Dr. Miriam Jang earned an honors degree in biochemistry. She continued on to medical school, where she ranked in the 95th percentile in the National Medical Licensing Examination, which doctors take after completing their M.D. studies. Over the next decade and a half, Dr. Miriam Jang created a successful family medicine practice while serving her community as an emergency doctor. Then, faced with her son’s diagnosis of autism, Dr. Miriam Jang decided to focus all of her professional energies into autism treatment. Her expertise helped her fight back against the disorder that threatened her family. Now a leading figure in autism research and treatment around the world, Dr. Miriam Jang authored “Breakthroughs in Autism” in order to help other individuals whose lives have been touched by the disorder. The publication offers a synopsis of the protocols developed throughout four Defeat Autism Now! Conferences. Formed to bring together physicians, educators, and parents, Defeat Autism Now! Conferences create an opportunity for doctors and scientists from all over the world to create an effective response to autism. In “Breakthroughs in Autism,” Dr. Miriam Jang uses her medical understanding to communicate the material clearly, and she also focuses on her position as a parent. In her mind, “Breakthroughs” does not contain medical advice, rather, it contains support for the parents of children with autism spectrum disorders. Dr. Miriam Jang has earned a place in the growing scientific community with her work on the Defeat Autism Now! effort. In April of 2002, she spoke beside the original architect of the Defeat Autism Now! Conference, at the Autism Society’s Stanford Chapter. Less than a year previous, in July of 2001, Dr. Miriam Jang worked beside several other medical professionals on the Defeat Autism Now! Doctor Panel at the Autism Society Convention in San Diego, California. Currently, Dr. Miriam Jang is collaborating with one of those physicians in the creation of a Defeat Autism Now! DVD, which will focus on central issues involving the testing and treatment in the Defeat Autism Now! protocol. With it, Dr. Miriam Jang hopes to bring the benefits of modern breakthroughs in autism treatment to children and families around the world.
