Power to the address book

Chas T

Network Administrator, St. Louis Catholic Church and School

I am an IT person who merely tolerates technology. My B.A. degree was in English Literature with a minor in Psychology. More importantly, I believe, the most despicable four-letter word in the English language turns out to be 'user.' But after over 11 years on the job, I have reached a semi-comfortable plateau. It took several years before I realized many people have earplugs they stick in when the conversation turns to responsible computer ownership. So I find it humorous and pointless to explain in depth any more when they ask 'What was wrong?' They don't really want to know. It's like asking, "How are you?" to someone. It's easier on the asker if you just reply 'fine' or in my case 'nothing much.'
