Director for Western Australia, The Leprosy Mission

I have a passion to educate Aussies about the needs of the developing world - especially those people who are affected by leprosy. My role, as The Leprosy Mission's Director for Western Australia includes visiting churches, service clubs and community groups as guest speaker to present a stimulating presentation about leprosy and what is currently being done to bring about transformation in the lives of people affected by the disease. It's a good news story! Each year I take a team of Aussie volunteers to India (at their own expense) to see firsthand the wonderful work that's being done. We visit various Leprosy Mission hospitals, vocational training centres, low-cost housing programmes and meet with people who are being empowered through micro-credit loans. The India Awareness Tour also includes a visit to the historic city of Agra and the famous Taj Mahal. Team members undertake to help us raise much needed funds for the Bankura Vocational Training Centre in West Bengal. The next such tour should be in January 2009.
