Richard “Dick” Vader, a recent addition to Griffin’s Financial Institutions Practice, possesses in excess of 30 years of investment banking and commercial banking experience with niche, major and regional investment banks, brokers / dealers and banks. Richard was an early participant in banking’s statewide and regional consolidation. He was also an early innovator who structured and completed mergers among mutual and stock companies, and mutual-to-stock conversions of mutual banks, thrifts and insurance companies. Vader’s experience includes senior responsibility for about 45 mergers and acquisitions, and 25 securities offerings, including bank and insurance companies’ mutual-to-stock conversions.
Vader is also an ‘Adjunct Lecturer’ of Corporate Financial Management in the graduate 'School of Management', New Jersey Institute Technology, Newark, New Jersey.
Richard earned an MBA – Financial Management in 1976 and BA – Political Science and Economics, With Honors and was inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, in 1974 from Rutgers – The State University of New Jersey.

Course Description – FIN 624 Corporate Financial Management includes organizational options and goals of the firm. Management of liquidity, assets, liabilities, working capital and capital structure; financial statement analysis, planning and forecasting; time value of money, derivation of free cash flow and cost-of-capital, net present value and internal rate of return analyses, and securities valuation (value vs. growth). A description of “Corporate Actions” including securities offerings, tenders, bankruptcy, leveraged buy-outs and Mergers & Acquisitions. Corporate actions will be analyzed and demonstrated with the utilization of SEC documents.

Richard’s professional experience includes tenures with banking specific boutiques Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, Inc. and Alex Sheshunoff & Co., Inc., major securities firms of Kidder, Peabody & Co., Inc. and The First Boston Corporation, regional broker Advest, Inc., and the niche firm of Hugh L. McColl Partners LLC.
He was also the ‘Corporate Finance Director’ of a multi-billion community bank, and was first employed as a ‘Management Trainee’ at Fidelity Union Trust Company (now Wachovia Bank), Newark, New Jersey.
