Professional Summary
My aim is to help as many UK SME's achieve greater success through setting great goals, productive planning and a continuous stream of implemented great ideas.
I offer a range of tailored business mentoring starting with a years support costing less than a daily latte! This includes 4x2hr meetings and unlimited phone and email support. This can include checking your business plans, setting focussed and effective Business Goals, Visualising future success, Creating an action plan, Creative problem solving, Business Idea/Project evaluation, Project Planning and Management, Budget management, Marketing cheaply, Customer surveys, Disaster recovery, Grant applications, IP etc.
I'm happy to do talks on any of the above topics to local groups etc.
With over 6 years experience as an independent consultant, and many more years as a senior manager and planner in a wide variety of industries, there aren't many business problems I haven't seen and solved. I don't just give out standard advice but tailor it to suit each unique situation. As a result, I have a successful record of getting real, tangible results. Mentored over 30 business's through projects ranging from initial business evaluation (strategy fit, market need, funding, sales management, resourcing etc.) through to producing business and implementation plans, managing client staff and specialist consultants. Clients included Software, Telecomms, Retail, Engineering, Finance and Service organisations.

• Successfully delivered a 2 year programme of improvements to increase staff productivity and innovation as a key element of a change management project.
• Successfully delivered a major ( £4m) development project for a Public Sector client utilizing a flexible work approach achieving excellent revenue margins (>50%).
• Successfully implemented project for a major insurance company (£9m project).This included writing the business proposal, selling it to the internal stakeholders, defining processes for project initiation, risk management, change management and mentoring an inexperienced team of managers.
• Created and managed a flexible Delivery Centre (65 people) of developers and consultants, maintaining service levels throughout transition and achieving consistently high levels of utilization and substantially increased sales. This included gaining additional investment and convincing the team to work in a fundamentally different way.

Led an innovative, joint IT/business initiative in defining IT and business systems for company wide improvements in the way the flow of information was managed involved in the process of putting on Opera and Ballet productions. Developed a prototype utilising new technology (UNIX, Oracle, and VB) and gained board approval for implementation.

• Designed and implemented flexible IT support and development team structures and processes to reflect the prevailing business needs through several reorganisations of both the corporate group (e.g. merger ith Wellcome) and of the group IT function. This included the initial organisational design, costing and subsequent organisational development.
