CEO & Principal Coach/Facilitator, Community Frontiers
Boulder Creek, CA USA
Resumo profissional
Co-founder, principal coach/consultant, and CEO of Community Frontiers (www.communityfrontiers.com), in Boulder Creek, CA. I work predominantly with associations in the areas of transformation, strategy, governance, leadership coaching, member and leader communities, transformative event design and facilitation, and Bodies of Knowledge, all enabled by creating a culture of ongoing, rich dialogue around the questions that matter most to the association and its stakeholder communities. I have written a book on how to foster a strong sense of community in member organizations like associations, as well as numerous articles on Living Strategy(TM), Generative and Strategic Governance, and growing and leveraging as its most valuable asset the Body of Knowledge of the profession or field an association serves.
I am a co-creator and one of the world’s most experienced designer/facilitators of World Cafés. (www.theworldcafe.com) I have designed and facilitated over 400 café dialogues since the birth of the World Cafe in 1995. I have designed and directed/produced/coached many more cafes and other dialogue-based events that others have facilitated.
I am former Leader of Collaboration, Knowledge & Learning for Hughes Space & Communications (now part of Boeing Space Systems), the world's top producer of commercial communications satellites. During that time, an almost cultish reputation grew up around me as a knowledge management, intellectual capital management, and communities of practice "guru" that I escaped from by moving and changing my career focus in 1999. Prior to that, I was a management consultant for Ernst and Young.
I use my experience and skills as an organizational anthropologist in all my work, even when the work doesn’t directly involve an anthropological approach or activity. This gives me unique insights into the culture, group dynamics, and individual mindsets and behaviors within an organization.
