I am an independent biotechnology consultant serving small and medium size biotechnology companies, government and non-governmental organizations, and large international organizations. I've served as former Chief Scientific Officer of the World Life Sciences Forum, BioVision, as a Technology Transfer Specialist at the US National Cancer Institute (NCI), and as a US Patent Examiner in biotechnology I have a strong interest in international technology transfer and intellectual property, having instigated the first Gordon Research Conference on global biotechnology transfer in 2003. I've chaired major sessions on the new human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines at the US BIO 2006, and on bioethics of stem cell research at BIO 2007. Currently I am lead editor of an upcoming book on global biotechnology transfer to be published by Wiley-VCH. Since 2005 I've been an International Advisor to Public Interest Intellectual Property Advisors (PIIPA), a Washington DC-based NGO providing pro bono legal assistance to developing countries in the public interest, and to the Stockholm Network, a network of market-oriented European think tanks.
