Professional Summary
Hello, I'm Dr. Tim Irving, chiropractor, massage therapist and nutritionist. I graduated from Western States Chiropractic College (WSCC) with honors. While at WSCC I took the opportunity to dive deeper into the available knowledge base; and wrote a thesis on the relationship between pain and muscle activity that sparked many intellectual discussions amongst my classmates and future colleagues. I accepted an additional internship in my last quarter at WSCC in OHSU's Integrative Medicine clinic where I had the opportunity to examine and advise patients along side naturopaths, medical doctors and acupuncturists.
Right before graduation, I helped WSCC develop and implement their massage therapy training program. Since graduation, I have committed myself to both clinical practice and teaching; embodying the "doctor as teacher" aspect of my training. In addition to a successful clinical practice, I teach Physiology and various clinical, adjusting and clinical skills classes in WSCC's chiropractic program. I also teach a Graston Technique workshop to the chiropractic students at WSCC.
I have extensive training and experience in functional medicine, nutrition, chiropractic and therapeutic massage therapy and am actively pursuing new ways to become a leading force in the evolution of chiropractic and healthcare. Health and wellness through physical, nutritional and dietary treatments is such a passion of mine that I went on to a Master's in Human Nutrition program in 2007 at the University of Bridgeport and have recently finished a 5 month training program in functional medicine. With hopes to revolutionize the integration of diet, nutrition, functional medicine and detoxification issues into clinical practice, I am always looking for educational opportunities to reach my goals. I look forward to helping you reach your health and wellness goals.
Late in 2008, I was in the process of designing a complete nutritional program that focused on real food instead of the programs that rely on either pre-packaged, processed "pseudo-foods" and/or supplements. It was quite an endeavor and I was starting to feel like it would take forever. I picked-up a copy of Gourmet Nutrition Vol. 2 written by Dr. John Berardi CSCS, PhD. and was amazed at the recipes found in his book. So much so that I dug a little deeper and found out he produced a comprehensive diet program that blows the socks of anything else out there. I was sold and at the end of 2008, I teamed-up with the Folks at Precision Nutrition so I could bring the wisdom, simplicity and focus on health and wellness through real food to my patients.
Yours in Health,
Tim Irving DC, MScan., LMT, CKTP, CHt.
