Work Experience

Sun Microsystems / Software Engineer, France and then UK
2000 - Present
While currently in a software engineering role following my move to Europe,
electronic engineering was my original field.

Four years of management and leadership experience !
Prior to moving to France in 1999, I created and lead the National Systems Support Engineering group for Sun Microsystems Australia. This premier peak performance team was solely responsible for Sun Australia's service to high end accounts. As leader of this team I was the recipient of peer manager awards and my team grew to be held in the highest regard for their breadth and depth of skills, commitment and integrity.

Moving to France allowed me to offer an education that money could not buy to my then 3 year old daughter.
There I took on a role sustaining network code; X.25, OSI, Frame Relay, TCP/IP and
moving to the UK in 2004, SCTP, STREAMS Framework and similar middle tier kernel code.

The next move will be into coaching, mentoring and a return to the management arena, where I feel my talents are best utilised.

Create and lead a dynamic new Australian mission critical service delivery team,providing proactive service for strategic customers.
Hire a team of SSEs for each region, develop cross training for SSEs in hardware and software.
Design operations and escalation strategies and processes.
Drive a culture of issue ownership, and individual empowerment, nurture a strong team of highly competent individuals.
Delegate responsibility and authority; monitor needs, provide resources, feedback, training and tools.
Track customer satisfaction and response metrics; build relationships with diverse teams and customer personnel and management.
Proactively address issues potentially impacting customer satisfaction.
Architect and sponsor tools to implement business process requirements and facilitate proactive services.

This was the premier service delivery team in Sun Australia and 90% of the team are still with Sun, having grown into global roles throughout services and engineering.
