I have been a licensed architect since 1988, when I sat for the national Architectural Registration Exam and passed all 4 days of the exam in one sitting. Since then I have also been licensed to practice in NY, NJ and other states. In 1989 I started my own private practice, moved to leased offices in 1998 and bought our own building in 2005. My architectural practice involves the design of a wide range of building projects including residential, multi-family, retail, offices, schools, and others. In 2000 I passed the Connecticut exam for building officials with the highest score to date and am licensed as a building official. My practice has widened out to include construction management as an extension of the architectural practice and general contracting as Grew Construction, LLC. In February 2008, Connecticut Governor Rell had chosen me to become the next State Building Inspector, replacing the retiring Christopher Laux. Chris Laux had recommended me to the Governor and I was listed as the No. 1 choice after a search was conducted. I was also endorsed by AIA Connecticut, Home Builders Association of Connecticut, Connecticut Building Officials Association, and Litchfield County Building Officials Association. After a transition period, I did not take the position for personal reasons and remain in my practice in the private sector.
