Professional Summary
At the highest level, my interests are in the area of Information Systems / Information Management. My broad approach is socio-technical in the sense that I am interested in how best to 'manage' the fit between technology and the social world. My particular area of interest is the relationship between social structures (as an emergent property of social organizations) and the more reified structures found in information systems.
Most of my work is focused on Communities of Practice and the generation and maintenance of knowledge. In particular, I have become interested in how technology can support collaborative groups, such as Communities of Practice, when they are geographically distributed.
I am currently a lecturer at Euromed Management, Marseille. Previously I lectured in Information Systems and Management at the University of York in the UK, was lecturer in Information Technology at the University of Newcastle, UK and before that, a researcher with the Business School and Computer Science department at the University of Northumbria in the UK.
I am the Senior Academic editor for the journal Global Business and Organizational Excellence, and on the editorial boards of the journals Information Research and e-Minds.
