Christian is a certified financial accountant and tax consultant with 15 years experience in financial controlling under EU and Asian (Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia) regulations.

He has nine years of private sector work experience in Indonesia and founded one of Indonesia’s first social enterprises, the Bali International Consulting Group (www.bicg.org) with it’s main focus towards sustainable development and is founder of the Bali Export Development Organization (www.be-do.org), a non-profit established to build awareness and capacity among local producers on international regulations and standards in partnership with CBI.

Currently he serves as advisor on the board of two foreign investment companies operating in Indonesia, ADE RAI Hammerhead Fitness (www.balifitnesscenter.com) and Tropical Homes (www.tropicalhomesbali.com).

As Indonesia’s first organizational stakeholder of the Global Reporting Initiative he strives to create more awareness on sustainability and corporate social responsibility in Indonesia.

As a founding board member of the Kuta Small Business Association he received the Community Service Award in 2004 for his work towards establishing the Kuta Karnival (www.kutakarnival.com) as a relief effort in response to the 2002 tragedy.

His current interests are in reforestation and climate change issues, and is representing the PATT Foundation (www.plant-a-tree-today.org) in Indonesia and also partnered with CV. Akar Wangi Jaya (www.vetiver-indonesia.com).

For Bali’s economic development under consideration of sustainability and responsibility, BEDO also joined in the effort of developing the Creative Economy (www.balicreativecommunity.org) and they run a program to assist disabled people in finding jobs in Bali’s industry in partnership with VSO.

Beside his responsibilities as a commissioner and financial controller for Tropical Homes, he is currently working with other committed parties on the development of an Eco Boutique Retreat chain, a sustainable aquaculture farming project (www.aquafarm.biz), Bali’s first green building material and eco friendly home supply store (www.littletreebali.com ), a distribution company for FSC certified timber from sustainable managed forests with one of Indonesia’s largest natural forest concession holders, a Jatropha biofuel plantation in Sumba (less environmental and social impact than Palm), a web portal for green awareness in Indonesia for the facilitation of know how and technology transfer as well as matching of projects and investment (www.greenindonesia.com), an environmental and energy management and service unit (EEMS), a responsible sourcing unit (www.responsible-sourcing.com).

His 2012 vision is the realization of a Sustainable Development Fund for Indonesia (ISDF) to facilitate projects and capitalize companies focused on renewable energy, sustainable production, sustainable tourism and related services.
