NeTV Networks & Studios
In 2007, NeTV Networks was closed following 12 years of successful operation, so John could focus his full attention to surviving his battle with cancer. Over the course of the life of NeTV Networks, John spearheaded the company's online media and web hosting services provided to a wide range of businesses. Founded in the early days of the commercialized Internet with a vision of the convergence of online and video technology, NeTV served many local Los Angeles-based clients, such as the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, West Hollywood Convention & Visitors Bureau, the City of West Hollywood, Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, Beverly Hills Visitors Bureau, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and Hollywood Business Improvement District. Working with the Westside Economic Collaborative, Beverly Hills Economic Development Council, and other local non-profit organizations, John instilled passion for local development efforts to build each community's economic strength. Producing and distributing online interactive media and video content, NeTV developed numerous innovative solutions, including the NextGetTV Fest, the first short form video competition for the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE), the A&E-sponsored Third Screen Film Festival, and the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival.
Pacificom International
Prior to starting NeTV Networks, John established the broadcast television and video-focused communications company Pacificom International in Hollywood, with later offices setup in New York City and Tokyo, Japan, with services including entertainment industry-related publicity and non-profit fund-raising, encompassing Video News Release and Satellite Media Tour production for the entertainment and publishing industries, among other media services.
Early Social Media
Launching his initial career in the media, John blended his interests socially-oriented and news media production in radio production for Northern Arizona's Public Radio station as Program Host and Producer, Program Director and News Director. While an undergraduate, John turned his interest to covering Asian issues and began working on China-related production, getting an up-close vision of the new China at the beginning of China's opening to the west. Focusing his graduate education on international television production in Asia, John was producer of a nationally-broadcast weekly news program for the Christian Broadcasting Network, then launched the CBN Hong Kong News Bureau, followed by acting as an East Coast-based producer. He then went on to produce a weekly US nationally-broadcast television program from Seoul, Korea, then again served as CBN West Coast Producer in Los Angeles. John's passion was always finding and producing inspirational human-interest and socially-relevant stories that could have an impact on people's lives.
