Work Experience
Cross Technical LLC
/ Owner
2009 -
Present
This is a company I utilize for large projects that are best completed by a team. We specialize in open source software solutions, network security, wireless networking, and web development. We also take many other types of tech-related tasks as well and have a diverse network of other professionals at our disposal to help us tackle a huge range of challenges.
UdderWeb Hosting
/ Owner and Systems Administrator
2002 -
Present
UdderWeb is now a web-hosting subsidiary of my company Cross-Technical LLC and it was founded totally out-of-pocket as a home for many of our personal projects, many of our customers projects, and as a refuge for many other non-profit projects we have come across in our journeys through the web. What started with a single server hosted in Texas hosting just a couple of sites, has since had to go through many hosts and companies to meet the ever increasing demand for many of the projects we have taken on.
We have survived data centers falling apart around us, many severe DDOS attacks, dealing with lost hardware, and just about every other hosting horror-story one can imagine. It has taken everything at our disposal but the kitchen sink to keep sites under our umbrella online in the past, but we gladly continue to do so. We now have our projects spread out on servers all across the world and have many dedicated volunteers now helping us maintain the rather complex infrastructure that is UdderWeb.

Tractor Factory
/ IT Manager
2006 -
2007
My tasks included keeping all employee machines updated and operational. I also wrote shell scripts to automate many of my tasks including file-conversions and mass mailings. I also managed and maintained much of the company documentation and set up a central file-server to increase productivity for employees. I remained employed here until the company was sold . I continue to help the previous owners with IT related tasks with their new company.
Holo World
/ System Administrator
2001 -
2005
This was an interesting situation in which the owner of the company was in an IRC room quite distressed about an intruder who was using their primary Redhat Enterprise/Cpanel based web-server as an email relay to send out mass spam. Their ISP was going to pull the plug within 72 hours if the problem was not resolved.
I volunteered to help, and given the urgency of the situation he entrusted me with his root password. Within 2 days I had the server secure and the intruders/rootkits were removed.
I assumed the part-time role as remote-administrator for the next 4 years until they were acquired by a education compa

Budget PC
/ PC Technition
2002 -
2004
I worked as an intern and I eventually became a primary PC/Server Technician over the course of 2 years.
My tasks included assisting original senior tech in deploying company servers, building custom PC's for sale, and repairing customer machines both on-and off site.
I was employed by them until shortly before the company went out of business.

Lance Vick Ever have one of those mornings with your head completely lodged in your butt? I drove almost 40 miles out of my way clear past Kissimmee this morning before realizing I passed my office in Orlando. Yay for forgetting to turn the volume on my GPS back up. >.< 1 day ago via Facebook
Lance Vick So I did some rough math, and the odds of dieing if you only sky-dive once is about 1/7,000,000. If you only drive one mile your odds of dieing are roughly 1/60,000,000. Therefore skydiving once ~= driving 8.5 miles. All this is to say... Grace was right. 3 days ago via Facebook
Lance Vick I have somehow lost my jacket. It makes me sad. If anyone sees it tell it I miss it.... and tell me so I can try to convince it to come back home. 3 days ago via Facebook
