IT Architect, IBM
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Professional Summary

IT Architect dedicated to pre-sales activities with focus on the Brazilian industrial sector. I have a B.Sc. in Mathematics and M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering. I started my career in 1988 as programmer and later as a Systems Support analyst. In 1992 I joined IBM where I worked as a Certified IT Specialist until 2000, when I left the company to work as a Consulting IT Architect for TIVIT (former OptiGlobe), then a startup datacenter services company. Five years later, in 2005, I rejoined IBM as an IT Architect of the Software Group division. In that same year I was elected member of the local IBM Technical Leadership Council (TLC), an organization that works closely together with the IBM Academy of Technology, with the mission to identify and pursue technical developments and opportunities relevant to IBM's business, seeking to improve IBM's technology base and applications. I am part of the IBM Academic Initiative, in which I perform a (voluntary) work as an “IBM ambassador” to some Universities. I am member of some local IBM Software User Groups (WebSphere, Rational, Tivoli) and also member of the IBM Linux Community.

Work/Education

Work Experience

IBM / IT Architect
2005 - Present
I have been working as an Advisory IT Architect mostly in the Brazilian industrial sector, designing enterprise-wide IT solutions, based on customer requirements and business problems. I have been engaged in activities such as:

• Development and maintenance of “As-Is” and “To-Be” architectures, according to an adopted architecture framework;
• Architectural assessments and gap analysis (between “As-Is” and “To-Be”);
• Architectural modeling (business, information, application and technology);
• Interviews with customers and IBM teams (business/IT);
• Participation in committees or workgroups to evaluate new applications, interfaces and standards;
• Integration of architectural components with budget planning and business case development;
• Coordination of IT Governance groups.
TIVIT / Consulting IT Architect
2000 - 2005
I joined TIVIT (former OptiGlobe) since its startup as a company. There I participated in several projects and decisions that shaped the initial Data Center infrastructures necessary to perform the company’s service offerings. The experience involved the definition of standards, platforms, tools, procedures and service levels.

Usually working in medium-to-large customer projects, I performed several of the activities defined in TIVIT's design methodology, which included requirements gathering, viability assessments, technical proposal creation, quality assurance and project advisory during implementation.
IBM / IT Specialist
1992 - 2000
I worked as a Certified Technical Specialist on some IBM software products for multiple platforms (Intel, RISC, Midrange and Mainframes). I supported and helped to sell solutions based on IBM software products such as OS/2, Communications Server, Personal Communications, Host On-Demand, Global Sign-On and Firewall. I provided training to several IBM Business Partners and ISVs, and worked on post-sales at some strategic customer projects.
Verto Technologies / Technical Support Analyst
1990 - 1992
As a post sale technical support analyst, I specialized on network operating systems (Novell Netware, SCO Xenix and IBM OS/2 LAN Manager) for SDC Informatica, a local IT Service company (now called Verto Technologies). I provided training classes to customers and colleagues on technical support topics on regular basis, creating corresponding appropriate educational material, such as class lab exercises and presentations.
1988 - 1990
I worked as a software developer and technical support analyst trainee at the computing department of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. I was responsible for writing process and module specifications, developing data dictionary entries, and writing code for low-level modules, using Pascal/C languages, on several system platforms of the university’s computing laboratory (UNIX and Mainframes from IBM, UNISYS and DEC).
