Thomas Maikowski

An educator as well as a priest, Father Thomas Maikowski serves a variety of functions with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Page, Arizona. Known to parishioners as “Father Tom,” Pastoral Administrator Thomas Maikowski shares a wealth of experience and rigorous scholarship with the Catholic community. Thomas Maikowski came to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church after spending nearly 30 years performing numerous clerical and pedagogical duties in the Gallup, New Mexico region. At the Diocese of Gallup, Thomas Maikowski addressed the needs of approximately 58,000 Catholics in Northwestern New Mexico and Northeastern Arizona. Filling several positions within this unique American diocese, Thomas Maikowski spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to this largely diverse and multicultural Catholic population. In 1976, Thomas Maikowski began a long career as an educator in Gallup parochial schools. Earning his first ministry assignment to teach and administrate at Cathedral High School (now Gallup Catholic School), Thomas Maikowski spent the next two years teaching various subjects and managing school programs and resources. Possessing an exceptional academic and professional track record, Thomas Maikowski subsequently became Superintendent of Schools in the Diocese of Gallup, catering to the needs of 12 schools with a combined student body exceeding 1,300. From 1978 to 1979 and 1980 to 1990, Thomas Maikowski served as Superintendent and saw the significant growth and expansion of the once small school district. During this time, Thomas Maikowski also held the roles of Principal and Teacher at The Catholic Academy and Parochial Vicar at Saint Mary Church in Farmington, New Mexico. In the Gallup Diocese, Father Thomas Maikowski later acted as Director of Education, Principal of Saint Francis of Assisi School, Scouting Chaplain, Defender of the Bond Tribunal, Director of Pastoral Planning, and more. Spreading his obligations far and wide, Father Thomas Maikowski also contributes his time to military affairs as Admissions Liaison Officer at the United States Air Force Academy and Reserve Chaplain at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
