Technophile seeking ways to exploit the evolving Web 2.0 environment — more particularly in developing new business opportunities around the world.
Professional Summary
An outgoing and savvy Harvard MBA, William A.G. Mackey has the drive and confidence to achieve rapid positive results. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master's degree in Production Technology from Imperial College London.
Hallmarks of his style are: organization and focus; creativity and fresh approaches to problem solving; team building through effective delegation; and excellence of deliverables. With substantial management experience in a broad range of companies from Fortune 500 to technology start-ups, William Mackey has demonstrated bottom-line accomplishments in general management, marketing, business development, business planning, financial analysis, and information technology. His professional know-how encompasses specialty chemicals, analytical testing services, aerospace and defense, information technology, financial services, and Big 4 management consulting.
Among his primary interests is the evolving impact of Web 2.0 that is changing the ways in which software developers and end-users use the web as a platform. More specifically, he is seeking ways to exploit such trends in developing new business opportunities on a global basis.
Outside of his business career, William Mackey enjoys a widely varied assortment of activities and pursuits. As a volunteer member of WWUH Radio 91.3 FM, a public alternative radio station operated as a community service by the University of Hartford, William Mackey serves as a classical music announcer. He was the producer and host of "What You Will" — the Friday edition of "Evening Classics" — from May 2003 until May 2007. His program was focused on twentieth-century and contemporary chamber music, as well as music for solo instrument and voice. During the course of these more than 200 broadcasts, virtually all of the major string quartet cycles composed in the twentieth-century were played on WWUH Radio. There is probably no other music program on radio that can make a similar claim in the exploration of this engaging and sometimes challenging music. You can view extracts of William Mackey’s final broadcast in the current series of "What You Will" at YouTube.com by searching for WWUH.
He is active in a number of civic organizations, including the Harvard Business School Club of Connecticut, Harvard Club of Northern Connecticut, University of Hartford President's College, World Affairs Council, and MIT Enterprise Forum.
