Bem-vindo ao Plaxo

Dear IT Professionals:

As the Trust and Security Officer at Plaxo, I wanted to take the time to introduce Plaxo, a company dedicated to creating a secure and efficient service for people to build and maintain their address books.

Plaxo Contacts is a service that our members use to improve the accuracy of their contact lists. Plaxo members consciously download our software or register with our service and are enabled to send e-mails requesting friend and business associates to update their contact information. Also, when contacts from a member's address join Plaxo, their contact information can be automatically synchronized without the need of sending e-mails (with appropriate permissions on both sides, of course). As a result of using Plaxo, members' address book data is stored on Plaxo secure servers — this is necessary to operate the service — this information is not used by Plaxo for any other purpose.

Plaxo is similar to many leading web portal services which store address books and e-mail information online—the user's information is secure, private, and accessible only to the member. The information will not be sold to or shared with any third parties. Like a responsible ISP, we have also taken precautions to prevent both the intentional and unintentional misuse of our members' information:

We do not allow users to add attachments to messages.
We prevent users from sending to common distribution lists and newsgroups.
Plaxo does not access Microsoft Exchange public folders.
We take all reports of abuse seriously and terminate abusers' accounts.
Plaxo recognizes the concerns that IT departments might have about any new software that their employees install. Therefore, we want to address some common misconceptions about Plaxo:
Plaxo is not a worm or a virus.
Users actively and consciously download Plaxo to their computers. Plaxo does not secretly install itself or spread to other computers.
Plaxo does not send spam.
Users consciously choose to send out their own e-mails. Plaxo does not automatically send e-mails to users' address books or solicit contacts of our users. As part of our service agreement, users are prohibited from sending spam.
Plaxo is not spyware.
Plaxo does not mine Outlook for passwords or install software to track users' activities. Plaxo uses cookies as a security measure and to provide users with the features of our service, not to identify them individually.
We believe that establishing trust with our users is vital to our success. Many companies are using Plaxo Contacts as an efficient business tool for keeping their address books updated. We hope that your company can do the same. Together, we'll help you stay connected.

Sincerely,
Regalado C. Capili, Jr.
